Title: Italy Pizzeria Pictures
Post by: Cheese Head on July 12, 2009, 10:29:03 PM
While recently on holiday in Italy, we ate more Pizza than I want to remember. While on menu of many restaurants, it's also sold at cheap takeaway stores, kind of like fish and chip shops in Britain.

What was different with takeaway stores, was that the pizza was pre-made on very large rectangular metal cookie sheets (sometimes round) and then put on table under glass. You then choose what type(s) you want to buy, they cut off amount you want, weigh and you pay by the weight, average of Euro 11 per kg. They would reheat for you if wanted. Pizza was fresh as they were making and replacing types that sold best. Also, different was that not a lot of cheese was used on their pizza's vs here in USA. Also, some buyers just bought the cooked dough, and presumably put their own toppings on at home as cheaper.

Wish I took more pictures, click on picture below to get full size images.
