Title: Crazy colored molds
Post by: Terrior on November 02, 2019, 05:07:30 PM
So I've had a few different strange molds that have started growing on top of my penecillium candidum mold ripened cheeses. One mold starts almost pinkish and turns purple/brownish. It's not fuzzy but also not slimy. It seems to have started on some camemberts I made that I added powdered porchini mushrooms to the outside. I ate a bit and no distinctive taste and didn't get sick, but only ate a small amount. It seems to have colonized in my cheese fridge. The more worrisome one I just found is fuzzy and bright orange. Also growing on top of my penecillium candidum. Is it okay to cut off and eat the rest? It's a semi hard cheese. Here's a picture that includes both these molds.
