Title: My first cheese cave
Post by: Intrepidfred on January 20, 2020, 10:07:17 PM
Call me crazy but I just built my first house (at 44 yo-it was time) in the forest and I had a spare area in the basement so I decided to convert it into a cheese cave.

For my Temperature and humidity control, I'm using the Inkbird ITC 608T. During winter, I only need an halogen bulb to raise the temperature to 50-52F. I've connected the TaoTronic Unltrasonic TT-AHOO2 humidifier (with physical on/off switch).

I also have a wine cooler for cheeses that needs higher humidity. I keep it at 52F and 95% humidity.

Excellent.  Building a house in the woods, amazing, I salute your big cojones for undertaking such a project.

I have several of these Inkbird controllers and am very impressed, just don't like that on the basic model humidity controller you can't set the "Low Humidity" alarm for anything higher than 50%, particularly a problem since I'm growing mushrooms (the eating, not magic kind).

That's my next step: mushrooms!

I found a way around the alarm problem. I use a wifi temp and humidity sensor connected to my phone (because I'm away during the week to work).
