I was looking for a local and better type of cloth to be used in my presses. Something tightly woven but not too tight. I ran across a drapery in walmart for about 5 US dollars that when cut up makes a great cloth. They call it "Marjorie" on the package (see photo) I found that I had to melt the edges or it would leave LOTS of little hairs in the cheese. I would think a bag sealer might work well for that but not having something like that I used an alcohol lamp and just quickly ran the edge through the flame and it took only moments. I am using either this or muslin almost exclusively now.
Nice find Ben. And almost big enough for Wayne & Farmer's giant wheels. :o
Somebody on here suggested sheet material and ever since I made a cloth bucket out of one, my pressing is sooooooooo much easier. I use the same one every time and it works so much better than trying to deal with all the wrinkles and extra cloth. I would highly recommend doing this out of your new material if it is stout enough to take the multiple washings.
Looks like it could be wrinkle free too! Congrats Ben.
Debi,
Mine is not yet wrinkle free but very near to it. With a little more practice I think a cheese could be pressed with this material with almost no visible markings from the cloth.
It looks very sheer I'll bet you will have it down in a cheese or two!
