Title: Behold the Floc Finder 2000
Post by: vogironface on December 07, 2009, 02:03:48 AM
This is the Floc Finder 2000.  It has 2x the features as the original floc finder.  The original floc finder was simply a floating disk.  This is a floating disk with a peg to aid in the spinning.

Development is underway for the Floc Finder 3000 lx and the Floc Finder 4000 Pro.  The 3000 Lx will include the added feature of centering the ergonomically designed spinning peg.  The 4000 Pro will include all the above features and include the unbelievable enhancement of also being round.

Yes folks, the innovation never ends here at Darwin Developments.  As always the question is at which extreme of the natural selection continuum do I operate?

So, my thinking is that a child's simple spinning top might work?

Does it come in decorator colors?

What's with the groove? Does that permit digitally counting the number of revolutions with a laser scope?

Is that the Asgard (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asgard_(Stargate)) design?

Wayne,
I am sorry but the design is a highly classified secret.  It may be possible to reverse engineer it but we are confidant that the subtle nuance we incorporated in the design will prevent that from happening.  Let me know if you are successful.

Boofer,
I thought the groove was the groove in the cutting board I cut up.  But I like your idea better.  I think it will  now be known as the "atomic timing groove machined to military specs out of state of the art poly components".  Are you needing a job in marketing?  I think you may have what it takes.

Gurkan,
Sadly our Asgard designer went home for the holidays.  What we failed to account for is the difference in the relative position of his world to ours and the sun.  A two week holiday for him is about 2-3 generations for us.  The worst part is it is a paid vacation.  Due to the tight economy and budget cuts and our old benefits package we had to .... um ... modify our expectations for our lead engineer.  He comes highly recommended.  See picture below.

Need to incorporate digital pH and temperature probes with remote transmitting capabilities. It should also have a motion detector to determine flocculation point and a timer that automatically calculates set time based on flocculation multiplier. That way I can soak in the hot tub (it's 21F here right now), sip wine and make cheese at the same time.

Ben - where do I send the resume?

Debi - you crack me up. I had this vision of Sailor and his pot of curds&whey in the tub together.

You guys crack me up.

I could do 800 gallon batches up to 104F. Just run the air blower to keep everything stirred up. But I need the monkey's help.

OMG your bathing in an 800 gallon cheese vat??? How much sanitizer do you suppose you'd need for that? I wonder if it's ever been done ... QUICK CALL GUINESS!

Some practical info for those of you who may want to build one of these.  I have now used this device and would suggest some design changes.  I made it to fit inside a 3" pipe so that it could double as a follower should I decide to use 3" (Provolone).  The floc finder has a tendency to roll over and sink because the center of gravity is to high with that stainless screw on top.

Solutions would be to make it wider, say to double as a 4" or 6" follower or to use a shorter screw bringing the center of gravity lower.  Right now it is like trying to float the Eiffel Tower on a fishing boat.

Yeah, I know you meant the Guinness Book of World Records folks. I conjured this image of Sailor in the tub filled with Guinness Stout, with his cheese in the shape of a little rubber duckie.  ::) Oh, now that just might be a record....  Nah, too kinky!

You people are sick! :o  Or fermented, as DH would say...

Sorry the latest edition of the floc finder isn't working so great.  Keep us updated on your improvements.

Aw well back to the design center for the new improved floc finder.
