I have another promising young buck with no fresh daughters yet and I am picking up another buck with an AMAZING pedigree this weekend. This will give me 3 bucks for 14 does. I hope to have a good selection that will give me beautiful udders and LOTS of milk.
How many bucks do you keep?
We keep two bucks, but will be adding a third next year. We have two bucks for just over 20 does.
Are you going to add in an AI program? I'd like to, but I think it will be a year or two.

congrats, Christy! we have our 1st doelings on the ground from buck #1, reserved buck #2 (and he was actually born this month!). so we have a whole year to wait to see how he really did - but so far so good!

Good afternoon all, I have one buck and one baby buckling, do I eat the baby when it is older or do I keep the daddy who has huge horns and is a right nightmare when in rut?
I assume that buck was a typo and you mean duck. Duck is quite tasty with plum sauce. I wouldn't recommend eating a buck.
We've eaten up to a 12-18 month old buck but waited until out of rut a few months. Older bucks -- probably not. :P
Young bucklings are excellent eating. Still, I'd dispose of any big, mean buck and keep a younger one. Less smell, less fuss, and they are still able to do the job of breeding quite well.
I've never had goat. What does it taste like?
I regularly eat older bucks, the back steaks in particular are good for curry. You need to marinate and slowly roast though, otherwise it is pretty nasty tatsing meat. Roasting in milk or even coconut milk seems to draw out the off flavours.
