Title: Rind - Not Developing
Post by: Bowl on August 29, 2010, 06:51:10 PM
I have made a cheese 6 days ago, I have brined it every day. Though for some reason the rind is not developing. I was wondering if someone could tell me what I'm doing wrong?

What do you mean? What do you expect to happen by now?

Shouldn't the rind be developed by now?

If I'm wrong - sorry, I'm fairly new to cheesemaking...

Bowl, I would suggest you go through the forum and start reading lots of threads about all sorts of cheese-making steps. There is much information here and there that might be of use to you.

You can also use 'search' found in the upper right corner of every page. Type in 'rind' and/or 'brining', 'brine', and see if there is anything pertinent to your current situation. One thread will often lead you to another.  If a drop down menu possibility appears, make sure you click on 'entire forum'.

Generally one brines a cheese only once and then lets it dry, though there is much theme and variation to making/aging a cheese. :)
