Title: Chair -> press
Post by: Hande on January 05, 2011, 12:17:00 PM
Hello,
Here is my innovative "cheese press"  :D
I make it garden chair, take out some screw, and but some extra screw.
100 pound  was maximum results  when i use scale. But if I have 2 cheese at time it means about 50 pounds / cheese.
Maybe I get real one some day..

I like that!  Have you tried different weights to get more than 100 lb.?

I find this hysterical, and ingenious at the same time.  A match made in heaven.

Well done!

Necessity...the mother of invention.

Well played.

Here's a cheese, Hande.

Now that's one heck of an IKEA hack!  I have some very similar chairs, and may have to give this a try as I have not been able to put together a press from the old stuff in the barn (I'm trying to do it on the cheap, meaning not spending a single cent!).

Yes, I 'pimp my press'..
I notice when I get 8" mold that need more pressure, so now I get 275lb.
It's still get only medium psi but better anyway  ;)
I have make now parm and romano with 8" mold and I think those are good.
Only thing what I fear is that my "press" crash down middle in night and maybe my heart stops or my wife will kill me  8)

Well, if it's any consolation, a cheese before you meet your demise, friend.

This thread continues to make my day. ;D

My "pimped press" was too scary ( or my wife's look ), so I build a new one   ;)
I try to make it compact and heavy.  Arm is 120cm long and body is made in 4cm thick wood. Body is 45cm long and 50cm high.
I already made some parma and it's feels sturdy.
Meaby now me and my wife can sleep... all night long..

First class. You're not going to spoil it and make cheese with it, are you? It's too beautiful.

Hey, Paul, look...someone with carpentry skills!

Very thoughtful of you, Hande, to consider your wife's peace of mind. And, as a bonus, you get an awesome piece of machinery.

You continue to astound, Hande.  That is an absolutely gorgeous piece of workmanship.  Boof...is this genetic?  Or can it be learned?  Or bought off? ;D

Thank for you all,
I get all inspired pressed what you guys have made.
I notice that press what is available in cheese making store Europe is too weak to 8" mold.
Must say that this press get my stress low  ;D
