I am traveling to France in September, and would like all of your recommendations on purchasing cultures, equipment, etc. that I can carry back home to New Zealand. Anyone have some great sources for these items? Much thanks.

On recommendation, all depends on what type or types of cheeses you want to make and what size batches etc.
