Title: Plans/ drawings for a dutch press
Post by: steve5000 on July 20, 2011, 04:11:40 PM
Hi guys!
Is anyone willing to send me some plans so i can make my own dutch press?
I found drawings for one here on the forum, but would like to compare a few different sets of plans before i build one.

Thanks in advance :)
Steve

There have been a number of in-depth discussions in the past about this.

Find some hints in here (https://cheeseforum.org/forum/index.php/topic,6509.msg46464.html#msg46464) and here (http://www.cheesemaking.com/store/p/50-Off-the-Wall-Press-Plans.html).

Here are some rather rough plans for the Dutch press I built. The problems that I had in the first two versions were first, not enough leverage, then not enough space for my newer and bigger mold, then the lever arm mount broke under high pressure, so I doubled it. This version accommodates a mold that will hold curds from four gallons of milk, and with the block and tackle that I have attached to the lever arm and base gets a 10:1 mechanical advantage. Here's a picture of the press.
