Here is a nice little digital thermometer on sale for just $19.95 plus shipping. Stable reading in just 5-6 seconds and it can be calibrated. This company has lots of other higher end units as well.

There are old style Thermapens on E-bay for less. They are not as fast, not as accurate and are not splash proof.

I must not have looked at them for a while. I looked into getting one maybe 2 years ago. I thought it was closer to $120 - $150. I could be mistaken though too. My memory is awful.

I just purchased a Thermapen and love it. Fast and accurate. $89.95 + shipping.

Thanks Sailer, ordered their low cost calibrateable digital model PRT301WA for $19.00 (& two calibrateable analog thermometers (https://cheeseforum.org/forum/index.php/topic,8149.0.html) for USD6.00 each) + shipping.
