Title: Evaporator fan not running
Post by: Tomer1 on August 12, 2011, 02:35:45 PM
My having a tough time getting my cheese cave\wine fermentor to go below 15c.
In the winter when I first got the fridge this wasnt an issue but now when temp reach 30-32c it keeps icing up which in result needs defrosting which in results overflows the water holding bowl.
I noticed recently that the evaporator fan is was not working (I assume a wire got disconnected while I was transporting it from the seller's house to mine or the motor is just faulty, the fridge is about 8 years old so its possible that the motor has died)

Are the problems described correspond to evaporator fan not running?

Well the motor was fine,
For some reason the main control board is not giving out voltage to the fan motor power harness.
I hacked an old german AC->DC convertor which has max output voltage of 12v 1A, slipped the cables through the seal gaskets and it works really well but I have no idea how much power Im wasting with this improv.
I cant believe the chill blast Im getting now when opening the door.
I just run the fridge an hour ago and adjusted to 14c. (ambient is 30c)
I hope it wont ice up now and the compressor wont have to run almost constantly to keep that temp.
