Title: Howdy from SE Oregon
Post by: peteyfoozer on November 20, 2011, 06:07:53 PM
I am glad to find this forum. My husband and I are ranch hands on a large working ranch hours from town. I have a Jersey cow as well as Nubian goats. I have been working at learning to make cheese, but so far only the mozzarella and soft cheeses have been satisfactory. I bought a small press and am really excited to learn how to make hard cheeses. We only grocery shop every 3 months as it takes us 4 hours to drive to town so making our own anything, is really appealing.   :-*

Hi peteyfoozer,

Welcome to the forum.  4 hours drive!  :o  Forgetting something important when you shop would really be a bummer!

Welcome to the forum peteyfoozer.

So if you open a convenience store there, would that be a good business?

No, there would be very few customers. Our closest neighbors are 20 miles away and there are only 200 people in the whole zip code. There is a small town 2 hours away, but we drive 4 hours to grocery shop, where there is a selection and they actually have green onions or lettuce. LOL

I am in Oakridge Oregon, and I thought that was the boondocks--BUT-- I just did a Google Earth of Princeton and now I feel like I'm in the city! Welcome to the forum!

The really funny thing is, Princeton is just a building with a sign on it that says "post office" we are another 80 miles from there!

Welcome Petey!
I'm in Corvallis.
Go Beavers!  8)  I used to work at a black fiber pipe company there while at OSU. And hops from Philomath! Good stuff. Lived in Alsea for awhile.

Welcome aboard, Petey! Three cheers for the internet!!! You can get anything you want at Alice's Restaurant on the internet.

Good luck.
