Yeah, that was a problem for me too!    8)

The trick is to find a humidifier that has a regular on/off switch that you can keep at one setting. In our case, keep it on the "On" setting and let the humidity controller turn it on and off. In my case, I was lucky. I had an older room humidifier with the requisite switch, so I "repurposed" it for my needs.

Go to your local hardware store or home goods store and keep looking. Unfortunately, not all the online vendors show what kind of switch they use and most of the modern ones have done what you ran into - some sort of momentary button.

Good luck.

If you are handy, take it apart and bypass the switch entirely.... apply power and it's always on....  ;)

Don't let it run out of water, though....  ::)

Yeah, that would be a PROBLEM!!!   A)

What I have done, since I am worried about things like that, I have a remote unit also in the Cave with a remote unit and the monitor at my office desk. That way, I can check every day or so that the humidity and temps are within the ranges I want to have.

Given my particular humidifier, I have to put in about half a gallon of water every week. Your mileage may vary, of course.

I am going to try a Vick's cool steam vaporizer, unless anyone has an objection.  There's no on off switch so, it should work just fine and with its 1 gallon capacity I shouldn't have to fill it very often.  :-)
