Cow 1st vs 2nd Milking Of The Day
« on: January 27, 2011, 11:49:35 PM »
I read on a Reblochon recipe that the afternoon milking or 2ND milking in the day produces a richest milk. Is this so or just old women's tale ? Any Scientific base for such a statement ? Thanks, Rolando  :-[

My milk is no different in am than pm (from my perspective). The only variable might be that during the day they eat more grass rather than a grain heavy diet at night but it takes longer than 12 hours for that to kick in so it might be the next morning/afternoon before the difference is noticed. I am just hypothesizing about the possibility, though. I don't really buy it but there might be another explanation.
