Or is chevre the closest thing to cream cheese with goat milk?

Stinky

It is possible to make it with the cream. Cream cheese is usually no less than half cream and half milk, as you're trying to get as much fat as possible.

Here's a recipe.

Now I want to make cream cheese...  Of course goats are dried up.

Try soaking them in water for 24 hours.  ;)

LOL!!  That is good!  If you knew goats and their natural aversion to water you would get a good laugh picturing me soaking them!  Love it!  One drop of rain and they run for shelter, afraid they might melt..  On another note, I do use my Chevre as creamcheese.  It isn't as creamy but everything tastes pretty darn good.

That is what we always heard...but our goats are not like that at all!  They don't mind the rain as long as it is not a heavy downpour.  They are out playing in the rain or grazing.   ???

lovinglife

Well!  Mine could learn a thing or two from yours!!!  They moan and complain when it is sprinkling and they don't want to come out of their shelter to the feeder!  So husband put a roof on the feeder so they won't go hungry!  He says I spoil them!

narnia

Well..its a good idea to have covering over the feeder anyway, so that the feed won't get wet and moldy.  I don't think you're spoiling them!  You are getting back from them, all the love and care that you have invested!!   :D

BTW...they ARE easy to spoil!!   ;)

Absolutely false!!  I can vouch for my goats who hang out in the rain!  What I heard made the milk goaty is leaving bucks around the does.  Those bucks really stink!  We had one and got rid of him!

Also, there is a particular breed of goat, the Toggenburg, that has a strong goaty flavor of milk.  People prefer their milk for certain goat cheeses.
