So I have been growing a bunch of things in my garden and the coolest thing I was growing was a chocolate flavored mint. The plant was growing out of control so I thought what could I do with it. So I looked p how to get mint extract out of mint and I did it and worked great!

Vodka+ thing you want extract out of + sit for two weeks @ room temp ---> FREEZE so cold until vodka is frozen = Pour off extract.

I did lemons that I had squeezed to make homemade Arnold Palmers, and Chocolate Mint and Orange. I am in love. They are amazing.

Caution: Using your Dad's grey goose vodka for the vodka could result in trouble.

I wonder if they would be good in cheeses?

I've used alcohol to extract herbs before, but had never heard about the freezing step.  Do you filter the herbs out before you freeze it?

I've not heard about using the freezing step to make extracts, but I've read that some who make homemade hooch do that to concentrate the alcohol as an easy form of distillation. Since water freezes at a higher temp than alcohol, when you freeze a solution, what you can pour off after freezing is supposed to have a higher % alcohol. I've never tried it however since I'm over 21 and can buy what we want.

I froze the whole thing! I had to put it in a really cold freezer. My regular freezer wouldn't freeze the vodka had to put it int my meat storage freezer.

It must be a very cold freezer. I routinely store vodka in the freezer, and I have never had it freeze. My parents had a bottle freeze once, but that was because when I was younger I would drink some of the vodka and replace it with water so they wouldn't notice. I also did the freeze-distillation thing. I was about 19 and made some apple wine, and kept it outside during the winter, skimming the ice off the top as the water froze and left the alcohol behind. It turned out good, but got me into trouble...

Yeah we have a freezer that we use for storing game or cow that we have had slaughtered so, I put it in there and it did freeze.
