does anyone know if i can buy a smaller quantity of 4" wood brie boxes? i can get them from Canada but i have to buy a pallet of ~ 3000. would like to get around 200 or so to start. or is anyone interested in splitting up a pallet load? they are ~ .40 cents a piece plus the shipping from Montreal i think. Vic

I have been looking for these forever and the only option I see is to import them by the thousands from China. No one seems to sell them. Places like Thecheesemaker and New England Cheesemaking sell them retail. They should cost a few pennies each, not dollars.

the cheese guy sells them wholesale but their still ~ 50 cent a piece. their made in canada and are sold by palets...still ~ 30 cent each. vic

Sorry, somewhat off-topic, guys, but while we're at it, I was trying to find a source for the peeling tools used to peel bark for cheese like Mont D'Or.  I can probably parse something together from that flat-hoe looking implement (forget what it's called), but the smaller one, used to create the even cuts for the wheels themselves (the tool has a kind of 3-sided box shape, sharp edges everywhere), would be appreciated.

Paul - the bark used to Mont D'Or is actually stripped off the same spruce logs that are used to make the actual Mont D'Or box. The logs go in and start stripping away. The first strips to come out are bark and the worker puts them on a pile. when no bark is left the strips that come out of the machine are pure wood and the worker puts them in a second pile which is used for the construction of the box's circumference.  I remember once seeing this in a video

I would not mind buying a large quantity of camembert boxes but I don't have enough room to stock 1,000 of them at home.

Since it looks you have already looked around, would you know which quantity we would be looking at?

I think it was Coffee Joe whp posted a vid of them doing them by hand - they first cross cut, then strip with these special hand tools.  I'd love to find one of them.  I can grind down something, but they look pretty nifty.

Sorry to continue the hijack, folks, but just in case anyone is interested, I did find the vid showing the hand-peeling tools used in the Mont D'Or, etc., bands.  See at about 0:51 on. 

If anyone has an idea where these tools might be found, very much appreciated.
