I'll post a picture and description (thanks Boofer, I had forgotten about your failure thread).  I don't remember having the problem (as much) with my old mats with the small round skewer-sized sticks as much as these new ones with the flats on one side.  Maybe the difference between wood and bamboo?

Any updates?
